Our mission is to provide loving, dependable, top-notch care for all pets entrusted to us and to provide a service where pet owners can feel completely confident their pet is in capable, caring hands. From daily walks to potty breaks to overnight visits catered to individual needs while pet owners are working or traveling, we are excited to be able to offer a service that is so rewarding to us.
I have owned and cared for pets all of my life, and know that they are truly members of the family and how they can bless our lives.  Having spent more than 20 years juggling a career with raising children and caring for my own pets, I know first-hand the challenges of balancing all of the demands of long days at the office, kids, travel, social and civic obligations, etc.  I also understand that many pet owners are sometimes physically unable to meet the exercise requirements of their pets.  Out of my love for pets, and my desire to help other pet owners find that "balance", Leashes & Litterboxes was born!

I live in Minnetonka with my husband John. We have one teenager at home, as well as two college-aged girls, and four adult kids who all live in the area. We have also been blessed with an adorable granddaughter! Our other ”kids” include one dog, two cats, one cockatiel, and one grand-dog! We adopted Jake, our very handsome Golden Retriever, through the rescue/adoption organization RAGOM (Retrieve a Golden of Minnesota, www.RAGOM.org). Jake spent his first few months of life in a puppy mill, and we are convinced he knows that he has been given a second chance. He is a constant source of unconditional love, humor, energy and inspiration. Our cats, Salem and Chloe, are both domestic short hairs, but with wildly different personalities. Salem “found us” many years ago, as he roamed door to door in our neighborhood, looking for food and attention…and a home! It didn’t take long for us realize that he chose our home to be his! He has grown into a very mellow and laid-back adult cat. We adopted Chloe several years ago, following the death of a family friend. She needed a new home, and we were ready to take her in. Our 10-year-old Cockatiel, Abby, does her best to “rule the roost”, and has absolutely no fear of any of the other pets!

Theresa has been working for Leashes and Litterboxes since May 2006. She grew up in a small town in North West Iowa where her family’s Basset Hound "Ed" was a well known character in the community.

Theresa has had a variety of jobs from Retail Management to Administrative Assistant but feels she’s finally found her calling in life. She says: "I love dogs, I love being outside, and I love being active – what could be more perfect?" Although she didn’t grow up with cats, her siblings have owned several and she’s become quite fond of her feline clients.

Theresa lives in Shorewood with her husband Jim and their very mellow Yellow Lab, Ben.
We are so very thankful to have Leashes & Litterboxes. It's a comforting feeling to know our "kids" are being loved and cared for while we are at work or on vacation. The owner, Jerri and her staff are trustworthy and reliable. We would recommend L&L to anyone who loves their pets like family.

My two Dobermans "bonded" with Jerri and Theresa very quickly. They have a race to the door each morning when they arrive for their daily walk. Having two big dogs that need lots of attention and exercise was getting difficult for my schedule, so I was glad to find Leashes and Litterboxes to help me out.

You could not find a better qualified or more compassionate person to care for you dogs than Jerri. She is "animal smart" and seems to speak their language. My dogs are thrilled to see her every time she comes, and they greet Jerri as if she is an old friend that they know will keep them safe and provide a great walk and play dates with other dogs. I feel totally comfortable and confident having Jerri take care of my Bo and Rosey, for they are my "kids"! I give her high marks in every area. She is a blessing.
